Makeup for Beginners: Dark Skin Woman

Makeup can be a lot of fun, but it can also be daunting, especially if you’re new to it. There are so many different products and techniques to learn, and it can be hard to know where to start. If you have dark skin, the challenge can be even greater, as many makeup products are designed for lighter skin tones.

But don’t worry! There are plenty of great makeup products and techniques that are perfect for dark skin. In this blog post, I’ll share some tips for makeup beginners with dark skin, so you can create a look that you love.

1. Choose the right foundation

Finding the right foundation is essential for any makeup look, but it’s especially important for dark skin. You want to find a foundation that matches your skin tone exactly, and that won’t oxidize (turn orange) over the course of the day.

Here are a few tips for choosing the right foundation for dark skin:

  • Test the foundation on your jawline to see if it matches your skin tone.
  • Avoid foundations that are too pink or too yellow.
  • Look for foundations that are labeled as “oxidization-resistant” or “long-wear.”

2. Conceal blemishes and dark circles

Once you’ve found the right foundation, you can use concealer to cover up any blemishes or dark circles. Be sure to choose a concealer that is one shade lighter than your foundation.

To apply concealer, dab a small amount on the blemish or dark circle and blend it out with your fingers or a sponge.

3. Set your makeup

Once you’ve applied your foundation and concealer, it’s important to set your makeup with a translucent powder. This will help your makeup stay in place all day long.

To set your makeup, dust a small amount of translucent powder over your face with a brush.

4. Contour and highlight

Contouring and highlighting can help to define your features and give your face a more sculpted look.

To contour, use a bronzer that is one shade darker than your foundation to create shadows in the hollows of your cheeks, under your jawline, and on the sides of your nose.

To highlight, use a highlighter that is one shade lighter than your foundation to add light to the high points of your face, such as your cheekbones, brow bones, and bridge of your nose.

5. Blush and bronzer

Blush and bronzer can add warmth and color to your complexion.

To apply blush, dust a small amount on the apples of your cheeks and blend it out.

To apply bronzer, dust a small amount on your forehead, cheeks, and jawline and blend it out.

6. Eyeshadow

Eyeshadow can be used to create a variety of different looks. If you’re new to eyeshadow, I recommend starting with a neutral palette.

To apply eyeshadow, start with a primer. This will help your eyeshadow stay in place all day long.

Next, apply a base color to your entire eyelid. Then, apply a darker color to the crease of your eye. Finally, apply a highlighter to the inner corner of your eye and under your brow bone.

7. Eyeliner

Eyeliner can help to define your eyes and make them look bigger and brighter.

If you’re new to eyeliner, I recommend starting with a pencil eyeliner. Pencil eyeliner is easier to apply than liquid eyeliner, and it’s less likely to smudge.

To apply eyeliner, line your upper lash line, starting from the inner corner of your eye and working your way out. You can also line your lower lash line, but be careful not to make your eyes look too small.

8. Mascara

Mascara is essential for any makeup look. It can help to thicken, lengthen, and curl your lashes.

To apply mascara, start at the base of your lashes and wiggle the wand upwards. Be sure to coat both the top and bottom lashes.

9. Lips

Lipstick or lip gloss is the finishing touch to any makeup look.

If you have dark skin, I recommend choosing shades of lipstick or lip gloss that are bold and pigmented. Avoid shades that are too pale, as they can make your lips look washed out.

To apply lipstick or lip gloss, start by lining your lips with a lip liner that matches your lipstick or lip gloss. Then, fill in your lips with the lipstick or lip gloss.

These are just a few tips for makeup beginners with dark skin. With a little practice, you’ll be able to create a look that you love
